Velvetfingered Mindflash
In the spirit of humor and delight,
For all women of all ages everywhere
Here they are again
These swooshword glorychimes
Swirlywhirling my mindfire's
Marblely-garblely moon-zoned spirit flames,
Tickly-tackling tongue-twisting brain-tilting rhythmswings
Like these wing-singing windsong cometstreaks
You make me dream,
Even as you catch me gently sleek-touching
Your elegantly rounded shoulder's rose-of-heaven skin
Within my laughter-prancing visionary passionscapes
Never meant to be cloud-round bluesky real
Merely
A capricious poet's lighthearted vagabond wanderings
A
Fleeting moment's pristine aesthetic dalliance
A
Velvetfingered mindflash appreciation
Of your
Astonishing seal-sleek pulse-pumping
Be-generous-janourous Junesong nature-gifts
In the
Flower-showering red and yellow Springtime
Of your life.
How bewitchingly you awaken these open-eyed
Jingle-swinging mind-toppling reveries
As you gracefully sit and dine
Numinously illumined in captivating smiles and glowing curves,
You the model ideal and dream
A refulgent angel-vision
Opalescent in rainbow wisps and vibrant hues
Chatting and shimmering as if you didn't even know
The intoxicated beautymadness
You incite in one like me,
The tweekly-sparkling blaze-blaring bonfires you enkindle
The fever-flaring dream-musics twirly-whirling aswirly-wild
In pealing chimes and dizzily-spiraling moonsongs
All properly self-contained of course in suits and gowns
Ticklely-tuckled napkins Chinablue plates and white-tablecloth words
Discreetly neutered and decorously burnished to fit
Our lambent candlelight tinkle-tingling crystal-glass occasion
But God
How your magical
Slow motion movements
Arching lines and curvaceous waveslopes
Tripple-whip/trip-me-up galore,
Especially when you savor-sip red wine
Mischievously glance my way
And flash-peek dartly-quick to me
A pink tip-tongue promise
Within your utterly bedazzling
Diamond-gleaming glisten-smile!
Cleopatra's Wake
(For JB)
You glide in beauty,
Hair as long and black
As Cleopatra's.
Caesar loved you then,
Now Anthony knocks
Your midnight door.
You glide in beauty;
All around you,
Lovers, friends
And family fall,
Driven by demons
They cannot know
Or call by name.
You nod and smile:
"Casualty wards
Teem with those who
Live on the edge
And burn too fast,
Too much, too hard,
Too many years beyond
Their youthful dreams.
The price is high,
Rewards eternal
Do you dare?"
You glide in beauty,
Tempting fate,
Daring Laughter's edge,
Never falling,
Always close.
You glide in beauty,
Watching others scatter
Lives and love and bones,
Cracking, sighing,
Forgotten soon,
So soon,
In Cleopatra's wake.
Afternoon At The Beach
Speeklee reesh the dingle-bings,
skipping 'long the seashore's sandy foam-lines,
creamy waves betwixt her daintily dancing feetly toes,
sway-slow graceful when she paused.
Keeklee-queeky, speekles she, wheatblonde hair across her queenly shoulders,
down her seawave lithesome back,
her seemly sunbrown arms a goldie-cute.
And yes, thrice twirled we 'cross me bed, far-flinging flowers to grace and song. Speeklee reesh the dingle-bings, the queenly glitter-singme-clingme, winging on me bedly sheets--
O, yes, yes, me heart larks a-yodel next a cloud, and whirly seeks the sparkley flames. Hark me, sweet one, dazzle-sing these jittering twitter-hots to conflagrations. Yes, we yes some more, a larkly hoot to us to be us tingle-times ethereally wrapped within our
dreamy hot-breath seaside whisperings,
licky tongues and tingling ears a-dancing,
in the richest brightest see-me woozy sleek-skin purr-eyed
be-me-warm and slide and sigh
and smiling sweet-cry slip inside and slide again,
finally falling lazy-warm akimbo,
languorous perfumed silence, golden sand and sun,
eyes closed, wheatblonde hair across my arms,
the touch I love, you love, we love,
in glittery-glimmering tweeple-dreams
and shimmering sea-side afternoons.
Music Hath No Mercy
Seductively,
From behind white clouds
And radiant light,
She peeks and smiles,
Extends her fingertip,
And touches foreheads,
Hearts and souls,
Awakens inner visions,
Demons, aspirations,
Holding out the hope:
Love, glory, service.
Some she chooses, uses,
Fills their lives
(And ours) with
Bursting song as
Clear and strong as
Light itself,
Golden sonic beams,
Like swords or
Lovers' smiles,
Awake, alive
Magical delight.
Some she teases,
Ruthless temptress,
Stirring love,
Desire, devotion,
Blessing only
With the rain.
To the many
She bestows
The dream
But not the means,
For music hath no mercy.
To the few
She grants the healing song,
Undeniable, irresistible,
And we, like children,
Bow before guitars afire
And celestial choirs,
Her willing slaves,
Aspiring angels,
Servants blind and drunk,
Sometimes awakened,
Ecstatic to the grave,
Even as we laugh
And reel and weep
And stumble into darkness.
Merciless in her beauty,
Music, sweet music,
Provocative, enchanting,
Alluring, unforgiving,
Seduces all who hear,
Demanding we obey
Beyond our strength,
Even as grey November's
Howling weight
Drowns in tears and
Breaks with wind and age
Our final whispered words:
"Music, O beauteous music,
"How I loved thee
"With all my heart and seeing,
"All my life and soul-sweet being."
Lovechoir By The River
Sometimes my yesterdays
Glitterflash in riverflowing streamsongs
Childhood beamsmiles, stubbed toes, mother's hugs;
Boyhood sunshine summers, chaotic swimming pools,
Pridelight in my father's eyes,
Charlene's first lovebreath kiss.
And sometimes entire decades ring in my ears
Elvis wailing, Miles crying, Bill Evans musing,
Jimi, Jim & Janis howling, John McLaughlin flaming.
Fifties, Sixties, Seventies beckon
From New York, D.C., Texas, Boulder, L.A.,
Ghostfaces rise in mist, tilt, contort, slide, and fade.
A few sing sorrow,
Laughter gone, bodies creaky-cracked,
Dreams reduced to rubble, minds to mumbles.
Others dance in triumph,
Rich, respected, their prestigious gains a joy,
Their wives, husbands and children beloved treasures.
Smiles/laughter, tears/dejection
What we hoped, what we tried,
What we gave, what we wish we'd given
Some of those buddies I'll never forget:
Johnny Hilgers, fourth grade cowboy sidekick;
Billy Johnson, high school quarterback;
Marvin Wooten, HuckFinn-sailing the Mississippi with me;
Charlie Langdon, college writerfriend
Nods. . .smiles. . .voices. . .arise and linger.
And those sweetheart souls I loved with all my being
Sundown seashore-dancing, bright eyes smiling,
Memory-shining, halo-hallowed:
Shake-it-baby-laughter-prancer, Thirdstream Monet heartsong,
Impassioned artful dancer, Teenage girl-blonde w/collie,
Compassionate storm-friend, Mountain Momma savior. . .
And Tim sang his glorious youthwind wild, O yes,
His soaring voice a wingsong lightbeam,
His smile a dazzling lovecharm, mind a gleaming star.
Those I've loved stay on, swaying together arm-in-arm,
My always lovechoir hum-singing peaceful streamsongs
On the grass-green banks of sweet River Time.
Together Always
For Sonia
That sweet yearning to be with you
I know so well,
And yet it's new each time
It's new like Spring's joysmile,
A cyclic revelation, a startling surprise,
Well, hello there, who are you?
How beautiful you are with all these years,
A womanchild, delightful, vibrant,
Unbroken, still brave, loving, strong
I feel just as shy as you do
Even with our journeys, memories, and
Streaming time-winds outside our door
Yes, when we close our eyes and sweep each other
Into silk and clouds and rushing waters
I still get lost in bliss, just like I used to
Who are you? I'll never completely know,
But you're the one I've always loved,
Even before you charmed me
Just by being gentle, the way you see and understand,
The way your strength helps without hurting,
The way you embody compassion, beauty, trust
And so we travel on in love, warmth, joy,
Bright-eyed, smiling, heart-to-heart,
Two as one, together always
Soaring Song I
Whip the gulley sideways. I'll have no truck with simple minds.
Fare me well, boys. I'm flying off afar to la-la-land.
Swish me barnacles and sing me sweetly to the stars.
Tomorrow's a sunbeam's road from heaven.
How now, the wandering heart, the cry of music's soaring song.
The dearly darlings know how the go be gone:
Weep for me, and, yes, the song is yours
To have, to hold, to give, to share, to leave.
Speak to me now, sweet love, for sunshine hills are calling.
I hear the windy valleys, too, the snowblown trees above,
And yes, the whispering sea,
Its lolly melody a-softly weepy-crying.
Lay me down in ocean swells, me dearly darlin',
Kiss me brow, I'll disappear.
Smile for me and sing our soaring song,
Your musiclove forever shining thrills me.
Lost AND Found
Right Here, Right Now,
In The Good Vibes Tribe
God, how a bright smile
Thrills the heebie-jeebies right out me soul,
Sings me laughing up to heaven's gate, and so far beyond,
Dazzle-sailing me out of myself, ecstatic, standing watching loving,
Falling upward into the cheery-eyes and rosy cheeked hallelujah-smile
Of a soul wide awake, alert, alive, joyously-deeply breathing essence-life, Radiating peace-love-bliss rainbow-splashing music-ecstatico,
Laughter's flickery-joy, smiley-dancing featherlight in air and sky,
A smile so wide-eyed dreamsong love-charged beamdance
White teeth and rose-tongue sweetly charming soft-blush mouth,
Swaying from the waist, aswirl in longhair swooshy circles,
Bare feet a twirly-round, a twirly-round-sound,
Wildhair windsinging in the dance-rush
Glory be!
Me bedazzled here atwirl and joyburst immersed in the good vibes tribe,
Sunsplashed ancient as Jericho's dusty festival streets,
As starlight immediate as my glitter-eyes a-smiling,
Dancing in the lovewind wild, arms raised, open and closed eyes skyward,
Seeing all our lives spiralwhirling like suns and moons and diamond stars,
Her smile letting me know she loves her soul and self and
Everybody here and everywhere, everywhen, everyhow
My god!
There I go again, flying in that endless blue sky, laughing with the birds,
Arms a-glide-wide, sailing those swoosy-whooshy currents,
My singing soul so alive and true and in love,
Smiling and singing and dancing awhirl,
Electrostatic jumping joy out of self, out of mind,
Beyond the I-me, you-me,
Into the we-all, be-all, see-all,
Thrilling my heebie-jeebies up and out and
Going
Going
